Social Media Taking Over Our Lives

Do you think social media is just another new source to hinder our children’s productivity and attention?

Recently teenagers have been addicted to using their phones, the one main reason is Social Media.

Teenagers spend an absurd amount of time on their phones or electronic devices and most of the time it is used on social media. It allows them a reason to focus on it and what their reputation is than their actual school life.

Kids ages 8 to 12 spend up to 6 hours a day on social media and teens ages 13-18 spend about an average of 9 hours on social media distracting them from homework/lessons.

“In my opinion i believe that social media is a waste of time and is too time consuming. You could wisely be spending your time working or studying”, said Viet.

90% of teenagers who joined or participated in a poll ages 13 to 17 was reported to use some form of social media and about 33% of these people have lack of face-to-face conversations.

“kids spend more time on social media then time outside and causes them to get bullied. The media can cause kids to have lack of communication skills because media could introduce them to harmful things, said Sabrina.

“When I was your age i didn’t have a phone and all i did was read to improve what i am learning. Unlike now kids are too distracted by social media and have terrible attitudes to their parents”, said Nhan.
